If you've been to Sylvia Lake in May, you will remember seeing the carpets of white flowers on the forest floor. Those flowers were trilliums, and they were probably white, but if you look closer, you might find a red trillium.

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation began stocking St. Lawrence County waters with trout. Sylvia Lake will be stocked with 3,150 rainbow trout.

The New York statewide burn ban takes effect on Sunday, March 16. The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) has enforced an annual brush burning ban since 2009.
